Volvo Trucks Debuts 82-Foot Turntable at VA Customer Center with Shenyang Weizhong & Carousel USA

Volvo Trucks North America has unveiled its state-of-the-art Volvo Trucks Customer Center at the New River Valley (NRV) plant in Dublin, Virginia, marking a $38.1 million investment in the facility responsible for assembling all North American Volvo truck models. The new 36,000-square-foot center, designed to immerse visitors in the brand’s innovations and products, features a standout engineering marvel: an 82-foot revolving truck turntable, manufactured by China’s Shenyang Weizhong Revolving Machinery Co., Ltd. and installed by Carousel USA. This turntable forms the core of the facility’s theater-in-the-round, seating 290 guests and enabling dynamic 360-degree presentations of Volvo’s trucks, engines, and transmissions.

The theater’s rotating platform—one of the largest of its kind in a customer experience center—allows visitors to engage with Volvo’s vehicles in motion, highlighting their design and performance. Adjacent to the theater, an observation area offers views of the 1.1-mile Customer Experience Track, where trucks navigate banked curves, varied road surfaces, and off-highway conditions at highway speeds. The track is designed to simulate real-world challenges, giving customers firsthand insights into vehicle capabilities.

Franky Marchand, NRV plant vice president, emphasized the facility’s role in showcasing employee contributions to Volvo’s industry leadership. The center’s architecture, shaped like Volvo’s iconic iron mark, blends Scandinavian minimalism with functional design, reinforcing the brand’s identity. Alongside the customer-facing upgrades, the $38.1 million investment also funded plant improvements to enhance manufacturing safety, quality, and efficiency.

“This center is a destination for customers to experience our brand in a way only Volvo can deliver,” said Göran Nyberg, President of Volvo Trucks North America. The opening coincides with the launch of the new Volvo VNL series, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation. By partnering with Shenyang Weizhong and Carousel USA for the turntable’s precision engineering, Volvo continues to blend global expertise with local craftsmanship, solidifying NRV’s status as a hub for North American truck manufacturing.
